XG questions

Some questions for the masses here:

1. Are there any formal recommended settings published anywhere? 2. Where can the current opening book be downloaded from?

I was looking for some resources, for a friend, and sadly lots of 'gaming' tagged sites are blocked for me, so I cant do a true search anywhere.
