Michael,
There are two donations in question here.
Firstly, when the USBGF was in discussion to acquire the ABT, we reached an impasse because the USBGF simply could not budget what it was going to take to make the deal, and more importantly, we did not believe the ABT was worth more than that. As far as I know, Tom learned of this impasse during unrelated conversations and unsolicited said "go do it and I'll cover the difference". He gave $5k. We completed the transaction with Bill Davis. Bill Davis has Tom's money. Perhaps Bill would want to give it back to Tom Buckner if he feels it is dirty. Is the USBGF now sitting with an asset (the ABT) worth more than we paid on the open market as a result of this donation? No. We didn't think it was worth more than the $5K we paid out of pocket at the time, and nothing since has changed that view.
Secondly, there is the question of Tom's USBGF Diamond Sponsor lifetime membership. The severing of relations is regarding an entirely separate corporate sponsorship arrangement with P40. Tom's USBGF membership was not cancelled or modified in any way. He remains a sponsor level member for life, with all the benefits that confers, and the recognition for this sponsor membership remains on the website and will remain there in perpetuity, along with all other sponsor members, including Rod Covlin who also had relations severed at a business level, but not his USBGF membership. The USBGF has never cancelled anyone's membership. No refund is applicable here, because Tom Buckner still has 100% of what he purchased.
