Cost of the USBGF

For some reason, the 2016 USBGF income statement hasn't been posted. The file that was posted only contains the balance sheet. Here's the 2015 income statement (page 2 is revenue).
There are different ways to look at these things. To avoid a discussion of accounting, I will do a hand waive and say that the USBGF received approximately $55,000 in revenue in 2015. I believe that this amount was on the high side for reasons I have forgotten. So, let's call it $50,000 a year.
The question is, are backgammon players better off giving the USBGF $50,000 every year or keeping that money themselves? There are approximately 1000 members. Has value been received for the money spent?
When I was volunteering for the USBGF, I put this question in front of Karen Davis often. She was very receptive to that paradigm - making the organization a value proposition. She has knocked herself out trying to achieve it. Others in positions of responsibility were not receptive to that perspective. They saw the membership as serving the organization rather than the other way around. It is very healthy to hold an organization's feet to the fire when it comes to delivering value to the membership. It is inappropriate for board members to attempt to stifle this dialogue.
This organization was formed with a promise to grow the game. That will never happen if it polarizes the game. The comments from individuals on the board made on this site in the last 24 hours show me they still don't get it. Nothing good will happen until they do.
