Great ideas, April. Back in the day, bars (i.e. Adam's Mark hotel bar Quincy's) had Backgammon tables all around the bar perimeter. Casual introduction to the game is definitely the way to attract new players.

I feel that although we have great exposure at a "wings" sportsbar for our weekly club, we must be an intimidating sight. Tournament boards, clocks, and scoreboards probably frighten away players who otherwise might want to give us a try.
