Certainly to choose which tournament you enjoy most is logical. For me the hotel, city, and what else to do there are much more important than the rules options.

At some point even for the pros in those sports the money is important I would guess for the first year or two. After that if they are smart they set for life and I suspect much more about where they want to go rather than squeezing the last buck. Especially for tennis and golf pros that are independent operators and can pick and choose based on where they do well for the non-majors.
