I wasn't addressing whether the rule is good, bad, or otherwise. I was concerned with your statement "It is my opinion that if a player asks a spectator to leave, the later should do so, NO MATTER what the reason is.".

It's just wrong and I think my real life example I gave shows that. It's like the law of some states and firing people from their jobs. You may fire someone and not give a reason aka basically for any reason. However, if you give a reason and the reason is such that it discriminates or is otherwise 'wrong' the employer is then up a shit creek. You can let someone go and let that be that, but if you let someone go and you say "We fired you because you're Muslim" then life's tournament director steps in and makes it right. I think in backgammon we should require a reason and if that reason is deemed total bullshit by the TD then so be it.
