My suggestion is to play the minor split 24/23 13/7 for this problem. 24/18 seems to just put a checker in harm's way with white's spares on 3 points. 13/7 brings in a new builder and the checker on the 8 point remains in a building position and 24/23 while it doesn't do much looks best for the moves you mentioned. I kind of like Mamabear's move better though.
