Clarification

I don't mean to imply at the end that anyone will or should memorize either of these positions as a reference. I mean it in the general sense, where we know a good, useful reference position, and realize that something similar has arisen in an actual game, but it's different enough that it could call for a different strategy...or not. It may also arise at also a match score that might swing some weight one way or the other, and not always in the same direction that the changed position on the board does.

There's no way to calculate every detail over the board, so instinct and experience have to kick in the keep us moving the game along. But what are instinct and experience? Black-boxed study and meaningful practice that we've done before, kept as free as possible from results-playing and second-guessing based on Rollouts of One Trial.
