If you are looking for net time saved verses net time taken I would have to say that time was lost however I believe that this will decrease or go the other direction if players get used to playing with this rule. I feel more comfortable determining dice supported by a vertical surface now.

I have used the dice on checkers at tournaments before as a player (LA and DC) and never had an issue with it. I frankly am neutral on dice on checkers but I wanted my local players to use it at least once before forming an opinion.
