Non-sexy 53s to play

I'd make the 3 in the first one. I don't want to risk a direct shot vs solid 5-prime, and my race lead isn't that decisive yet. I note that the timing for holding game (our 13pt. vs her 18pt.) is roughly equal. We'll be 17 ahead after the roll, minus 4 (half the roll) for her being on roll is 13, which is roughly the same as the difference between pipcount of my midpoint vs her 18pt.

In the second one I'm not sure if we should abandon the midpoint yet (I probably wouldn't OTB), but there are much stronger conditions/reasons to do it there. Our timing is much worse because we are way ahead, so the urgency for clearing up the outfield is much higher. The risk is also much smaller due to worse opponent's prime.
