Backgammon clock rules - introduce standard, rapid and blitz?

I just used the word standard, since that is (I think) the name of the settings where you have the most time in chess.
I did not intend to imply that 4 / 12 is the time settings to be used in most tournaments, just because it would be called standard. In practise, I am sure most would still be played as 2 / 12.
My point is that it makes sense to have more than one "official" time setting to be used relatively often for serious tournaments, which is the case for chess today (but not for backgammon).
Looking at how often even some of the very best players in the world end up very low on time, sometimes early in the matches, it is clear to me that at least some players need more than 2 minutes per point to play their very best game. Speaking of this, I am certainly a slow player myself, but far from alone.
Therefore, more than 2 minutes per point might make sense in a few high profile tournaments played over many days, like Monte Carlo, just to throw out an example.
Then, in most tournaments, 2 min could be used. And in some, 0.4 min. Instead of always 2 min. That was my point.
