Backgammon vs. TSA

Every single time I've flown with a backgammon board, about 8 times, I've had TSA inspect my board. When it's been carried on, I always get pulled aside, taken to the back, and have them open it up and inspect it. Once they realize what it is, I usually get "Oh, I know what this is, I've always wanted to play". I have seen the x-ray of my board when it was going through once, and it does look pretty suspicious. You have a brief case that is almost completely empty, with 30 little vertical lines at the bottom. When I put it in my checked luggage, I get the notice inside that my luggage was opened and inspected. Neither of these has ever happened when I didn't have a backgammon board when traveling. I was just curious if this is standard when others travel with their boards?
