Those are links to the box scores of two Red Sox/Twins games I went to on July 17 & 18, 1990.
On the 17th the Red Sox hit into 2 triple plays. This is the only game in the history of Major league Baseball where a team hit into 2 triple plays. The Red Sox won 1-0.
The very next day the Red Sox grounded into 6 double plays (including each of the first five innings). They also turned 4 double plays but only 3 were GIDP's. GIDP is an official stat; it stands for grounded into double play, so the fact that one batter lined into a double play means the Red Sox only turned 3 GIDP's. The 6 hit into GIDP's for the Red Sox is a shared AL recond (14 occurrences) while the MLB record is 7 by Giants in 1969. The 9 combined GIDP's is also a shared MLB record (it only happened one other time). Red Sox Won 5-4
Crazy baseball on 2 consecutive days where 8 Red Sox batters account for 18 outs but they win both games.
