JOE FLACCO. CONCUSSION. AFTER A DIRTY SHEAP SHOT.
Broken Play. Broken Pocket. QB is rolling to the right, going himself for the first down. He’s sliding. He’s defenceless. Hit comes not only hard, but dirty. Against head and neck. Flacco even loses his helmet.
Two ways. Oldschool. The old QB, playing out of the pocket, not going out of the pocket. No scrambling, no option plays, no QB going himself. No plays behind a broken play.
Or protect the QB, to save also the modern Football. Make the dirty cheap shot, a hit against head and neck a NONO. Make even the hits clean. Remember, what the coroner said about Aaron Hernandez and his brain.
It’s a stadium, not circus maximus. Sorry Kiko, it’s not a bang bang, it’s a sport.
Finally:
American Football is about penetrating male bodies with matter and energy, like boxing. Joyce Carol Oates said about boxing: it's like looking on two bodies making love. Intimate. It changes like no other sport the viewer into a voyeur. The same truth is in American Football. A Player can be damaged and perhaps even killed, through a hard hit. My love for this sport lies in the play calls, the 'hail marys', not watching a man to be destroyed, beyond what is necessary, to reach a goal. Im glad to see now American Football here in germany. But I'm worry about the inherent violence for no reason. It will fall back on this sport.
