But getting the cube up to a high level can still be the right strategy, and once you're on that road you can as well get it to astronomical, because you're screwed anyway if you lose, and you want to reach the highest level among those who have the same idea if you win.

I think dice duplication in BG is much less useful than card duplication in bridge.

Sounds to me like you really need to invest 10 EUR + shipping to have your thinking set straight :)
