I think a 5 percent rake is very reasonable. It only comes off the winners, and they should be more than happy to "tip" the staff 5 percent...in fact, most of us are willing to give an additional tip when we win.

Without the tournament organizers doing all the work to promote and run the tournament players would not even have the chance to compete. They have to get something for their efforts. Most people who run tournaments make very little money, and most who do are paid very poorly per hour when you look at the work that goes into it.

I look at this as the same thing as going to a restaurant with a large group and they automatically put in 18 percent for a tip. Most people, if they have good service, will even give a little more.

Anyone who doesn't think the staff is worth 5 percent, or even 10 percent for all they do to make the event happen and run it is, in my opinion, being very unfair and short-sighted.
