NY High Roller Event

Totally agree. Looking at tournament attendance metrics, most tournaments are very open level heavy. We love our open players, but catering exclusively to this audience has resulted in very stagnant numbers.
I hope to be able to move this metrics by running events that cater to events that appeal to all levels. This includes high roller events if this is what the market wants. We are also adding a more reasonably priced ABT event as many lower level intermediate players have a hard time justifying the high entry fee.
One thing that Stick left out is the risk calculation. I would tend to agree that the rake for super jackpots should be on the lower end, but some rake is needed. Think of the risk that you are taking on yorsef as a TD by handling $40k. Do you really expect staff to process that much money and take on that risk for nothing?
My goal for our tournament is that it is self sustaining financially, (that I don't have to reach into my pocket to pay for expenses). We choose to put the majority of $ earned back into the tournament and spend on a quality experience and quality trophies. Backgammon love, baby, is the only reason we do this.
