XG1 on win10

I still have XG1, never upgraded to XG2. Last couple of years I have been using GNUbg because XG1 doesn't work anymore since I upgraded to win10 from win7. Anybody else has this problem? I think it is most likely something on my end. Anybody had something similar? I wonder if upgrading to XG2 will work. I have emailed Xavier, and got email back, but send him another one with some questions. I don't wanna blow $30 for nothing. (I know how cheap that sounds on a bg-forum where we usually all blow way more money in backgammon games).

Weird thing is that uninstalling XG1 and then reinstalling it again, makes the program work for one day and then it stops working.

I have an old computer, 1st generation intel i3 processor. But it should work as XG1 was working fine on win7 and so was the demo version of XG2 on win7.
