When is a different bot useful?

For the position below, 2 rather bad moves are given to make sense of GnuBG's 'return hits' feature. In particular, the numbers given before the first bracket. The only stat that I find useful is the 'no hits' which takes account of all combos and no double counting. Obviously hits = 36 minus 'no hits'. This is the stat we are all familiar with.
I'm sure the GnuBG developers envisaged a use for the numbers given before the bracket (the subject of your question) but I for one can't see it. It is the 'no hit' stat that I find useful. Maybe Michael Petch could advise.

14 numbers hit the blot on 15 (incl 44)
24 numbers hit the blot on 18
Play 2) 9/8 9/7
11 13 15 (no hit: 9 rolls)
11 numbers hit the blot on 7
13 numbers hit the blot on 8
15 numbers hit the blot on 9
