OT - VPN networks pros-cons?

Any of BG tech geeks have any experience with home VPN services? I have gone to all streaming TV but in the process have lost baseball broadcasts. Washington Nationals TV is controlled by the Baltimore Orioles and a local sports network called MASN that does not stream. A solution is to hide location with a VPN network and use MLB streaming with no location blackout. Annual Price is about cost of going to two games.

What are the pitfalls of VPN networks?
