When is an error winning?

Hello, while watching streamed matchplay online I recently heard the commentator say a version of, "This might not be right, but it probably gets more wins". This was part of a discussion on why/whether we should not always worry too much about XG error rate. As a novice could anybody give me a good general example of when the move is an error in XG but will likely increase the players chance of winning the game or match. Any opinions welcome. Thanks.
