You ask: In hypergammon, what is the closest you can be to gin and still not be sure of winning?

I wonder whether the answer is the same as for regular backgammon?

Two quick guesses:

I am on roll and have a checker on my 3pt and a checker on my 1pt. My opponent has a checker on my 4pt. I lose if I roll 21 and my opponent rolls 66.

I am on roll and have a checker on my 2pt and my opponent has three checkers on my 1pt.

I expect Bob Koca will be much more inventive.
