Can the overlapping contact formula be equally well expressed as ">24"?

Good point. Usually it doesn’t matter since the only way to add up to exactly 25 is to have checkers from both sides on the same point. The one exception is if one side has borne off all their checkers while the other side has a checker on the bar. But the game is over then anyway.
