recommended rule change for doubles

In a discussion this morning with Art Benjamin and Kit, we all agreed on what we believe would be an improvement in the rules of doubles.

The partner who is not moving the checkers is responsible for the clock.

That way, if a player makes a move and his partner agrees that it is a legal move and the best move, he simply hits the clock. That eliminates the risk of the player hitting the clock before his partner agrees. It also lessons discussions back and forth about both players agreeing. And it keeps both players actively involved in the game.

Before this becomes an "official" rule change, like everything else, we recommend trying it for a few tournaments and see how it goes. I believe it will be an excellent improvement.
