Board care advice from my gammon elders.

Hello all,

I have a few leather surface (and faux leather surface) boards that need some serious help. A good example would be the del negro board with the eco leather surface.

Basically, the surfaces have dried out, or become tacky, making the checkers stick instead of gliding along the surface. Now i don't even use the boards because the surface action is too annoying.

I recently tried addressing this, first with the del negro board, applying an automotive leather cleaner I already had to a small portion of the board.. and stained the CRAP out of it.

So before I damage other boards, does anyone have a suggestion for trying to reconstitute synthetic leather or like materials?
