Forfeits in Minn??

What's up with all the forfeits at the Viking Classic? This is a format that only gives 2 chances to win ABT points, and there is plenty of money available in the Consolation. But over 40 percent of the players who lost their first match forfeited their second one? This was consistent across all three divisions. Anybody have any insight into how that happened?
