DQ: How to analyze these types of racing positions?

eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.10

I screwed this one up as blue yesterday and it cost me a p-p-p-pretty penny.

Clearly, I incorrectly applied a formula to a situation it wouldn't work in. I think the most frustrating part here is that if I didn't know any better, I'd have just insta-passed like I should've!
