Probability puzzle 2

Two players detest each other. The tournament director dreads that they will meet in the single elimination tournament as there would be sure to be a major dispute to be settled.

What is the probability that the two players meet? There can be two or more players and there may be byes. Assume all players are of equal ability.

The solution is very simple and was given a long time ago by Danny Kleinman.
