I'm still confused. The error itself wasn't removed (and the match itself not counted) instead he was given a clean slate meaning the resign error still wasn't counted and the rules were more or less ignored? What makes a circumstance so 'rare and unusual' that the BMAB is willing to reset their PR? It seems to me that rare and unusual circumstance was timing out. If BMAB is going to allow anyone to reset their PR simply because they're a donkey and timed out you might as well change the rules.
