Well, in terms of avoiding possible ambiguity - and a sharp player trying to exploit it if it occurred - this is a slight plus IMHO.

What they DIDN'T do though - much more crucially - was to disallow the most blatant of non-simultaneous rolls (during the bear-in at 3:08). Out comes one die, clearly coming to rest let alone just hitting the playing surface, with the other die still in the cup. Then, a small but clear movement projects the other die out, and the 66 is then played!!!
