XG is slow

Hello,

I am getting back into backgammon after a few years off. In the meantime, my old computer died and I have a new one. I downloaded and installed eXtreme Gammon (version 2.10.199.2658) and activated it using the registration I purchased a few years ago.

However, the program runs very slowly. Everything I do with the program has a 5-10 second delay, and when the program does respond, it is not smooth (for example, the checker animation is not smooth, when I load the settings window it appears gradually). Calibration results are CPU Speed of 1.99 GHz (x8) and Evaluation Speed is 772,571 pos/s.

I am running Windows 10 Home 64 bit, Intel Core i7-8550U @ 1.80GHz with 16 GB of RAM.

I have tried running the program in compatibility mode but it seems to have no effect.

I contacted extremegammon support over a week ago but haven't heard back.

Any ideas for troubleshooting?
