How do you define a containment game?

I'm thinking about what a containment game is. My current definition is:

1 checker between 24-15, 14 checkers in Home or Off

I think that matches successful last shot situations quite well, but I'm reasoning whether this is too restrictive. What if you hit a 2nd one? So I think

1-2 checker between 24-15, remaining checkers in Home or Off

is still a containment game?

What about 3 or 4, if there is that huge gap and no connectivity? Still similar tactics? Is the gap more important than the number of the checkers?

Any feedback appreciated.
