I edited out a bunch of middling plays to show only the ones that a human might consider. I like plays where we have the option of making (or keeping) the most advanced inner board anchor versus moving those checkers out to anchor on the 18pt. There are many tidbits I've picked up over the years studying these positions and one obvious factor is that when the opponent holds more outfield points than simply his 8pt, it is mainly wrong to step out. This makes sense as if he holds more points it will be easier for him to clear and get past your 18pt anchor. Holding the advanced inner board anchor will provide a lot more contact in these situations.
