According to ++ the best play wins less games, wins less gammons, and loses more gammons!? We've seen this before and as far as I can recall every time we could see a (near) immediate (inefficient) cube action that was the culprit. Here there is no cube action after either play and as far as I can see into the near future there's really no cube action that would explain this either.
