Best Poker Site for U.S. Player?

I'm thinking of getting back into a little online poker play. I'm in the U.S., a complete fish, and likely to play no-limit holdem sit-n-go's unless I become convinced that the combination of equity, potential equity (if I become less of a fish), and interestingness (something backgammon players are familiar with, at least) is substantially greater with some other game.

Where should I play?

Also, I understand that there are lots of ways that you can sign up for various programs to get paid, or to get rake back. Any of these that you would recommend?
