Sounds like another unfortunate Monte Carlo final.

Sounds like it might have been even worse than last years last game illegal move by Savio.

According to the GammonVillage article by Achim, Sequeira (sp?) made a number of illegal moves, only one of which was caught by Trabolt. Was there not a referee this year? or the same slumbering bear of last year?

The article says also due to poor lighting and the color of the dice the audience in an adjoining room could not read the dice. Seems like this should have been checked prior to the match by the directors.

In any event, they said the recording of the match was suspended midway due to the inability to read the dice and due to the difficulty in incorporating the illegal moves. And I guess the Falafel commentary, which can be both entertaining and instructive, was neutered.

Unfortunate all the way around.

Seemingly, fortunately the better player, and the player not making illegal plays, won handily 25-12. As was the case last year where the player making the illegal play did not win.

Hopefully such glitches as the lighting, the dice, and consideration for the audience and such abuses as repeated illegal plays and an impotent referee will all be much better addressed in the future.

I can't imagine such is allowed on such an important stage and that such is sustained when it occurs repeatedly. Or that one is so bold to do it. (Much as the Georgian cheating with the dice -- how bold can one be ??!!!!)
