first play as a trap

I propose a little trick. Assume that you are playing against a competent opponent. But your opponent does not know you as a player. Your first roll is 3-2 or 4-1 and you play 13/8. What the opponent think about this? May be "weak player" or "shy player". Suppose he rolls something like 5-2. What is correct play? I think technically 52-down is better than splitting because of the fourth checker on 8th point. But against the shy player he likely makes a split. I hope to see a little shock after 4-3 (24/20 6/3*), 5-2 (8/3*/1*) or 5-1 (24/23 8/3*) etc.
