Question on "NEW" label on messages

I use both my school and home computer to read the board. Suppose I read a bunch of messages at school, and later that night read again at home. There will still be the NEW label on ones I had already read at school if I did not read them yet from my home computer. I would like that the NEW label apply to messages that are new since my last visit from any computer and not just new to a certain computer. I am surprised it does not in fact do this. Is there some setting or option to use?
