Luck vs. Skill

Sure, perhaps everyone is playing better. Just makes it a better, more competitive game. But, generally speaking, you are going to find players from the same select group in the quarters and semis. That group is doubtlessly larger than it once was.

And, sure, you're going to have some quasi-intermediate knock off a Giant occasionally in tournaments. But that guy/gal is most unlikely to string 4 or 5 or 6 winning matches in a row against quality competition. However, it is not at all unusual for a Giant to do so.

The game is fine. I have little patience with people always trying to change the tried and true. Look at the DH in baseball, completely changes the subtleties and nuances of a great, traditional game.
