Advice for a virgin

a tournament virgin that is. i am playing in my first live tournament this coming weekend in baltimore and am looking for any tips, advice etc. i know someone will tell me to bring a board but since up until now all of my play has been online the only bg board i have is those small travel boards you see in Target, Wal-mart, not the nice large tournament size. is any board better than no board? thanks in advance, i hope to see some of you there.
