Backgammon Reference

In my touring of Edinburgh Castle yesterday, it was interesting to note that one of the posterboard signs in the dungeons noted that the prisoners played backgammon, among several board games, and gambled on the games to help pass the time. This reference was to prisoners held in the 17th -- 19th centuries, as I recall.
