Another Learning Position

I'm not sure this is the exact position, but it is close enough to make my point. In a late round Championship match in Chicago (no need to call the names) this position occurred.
Now certainly almost all of the Open players here would automatically play 10/5, 11/7; however, the player apparently had not been burned by this one before. He saw he couldn't protect against 4-4 and took both checkers inside. I made a mental note to explain to him after the match why he erred. Oops, didn't have to as he rolled the 4-3 and gave up 2 additional points.
After the match he saw me and, before I could say anything, said: "I know, the 4-3 !! Trust me, it will never happen again !!"
