Bill Finneran defeated Rod Covlin 11-8 to take the Masters title. The event fielded 12 players at the $1000 level. Rod did win the watch donated by Alan Grunwald for placing three times in the final four of trophy events.

In tomorrow's 17 point US Open Backgammon finals, it will be editor/director Carol Joy Cole vs. 1989 World Backgammon Champion and 1995 ABT Player of the Year Joe Russell. Carol is spending the evening playing jackpots while Joe is taking in the Washington Nationals/New York Mets baseball game.
