Monster Parlay...

Well, my first ABT experience went pretty well. I showed up in Cleveland Thursday evening, and played the warmup event for $35. I cruised through my first two matches, and then had to play some guy I've never heard of named Ray Fogerlund. Got an early 4-1 lead on him, and ended up beating him 7-5. Lost in the finals, but played through the consolation bracket and hedged the 2nd place and sidepool money with the other guy ($120 to winner, $84 to loser). So with that win, I decided to enter the Amateur jackpot. Cruised into the finals and split the prize pool even with the other player (~$400 each) and beat him for the trophy.
Friday morning, I decided to take $280 of that and buy a calcutta team. And yes... I bought the Stick. Even though he played like a chump and lost, Maurice Barie was in that group (the only one who didn't buy back... cha-ching) and ended up winning the open division. Payout = $1460 - 40% (20% to Stick and Larry) = $876
So $35 parlayed into $1000 over 3 days.... Can't complain one bit.
