I appreciate the legal implications and I appreciate the 'powerful' aspect -- both influence and physical. It is my understanding -- I have to think I read it here somewhere -- that the Danes didn't make book in MC this year because of criminal influences on matches/results and due to physical threats. There is no room in backgammon for this kind of deplorable behavior. The bad actors should be banned.

Certainly if a clock mitigates the cheating possibilities -- and, I think, it obviously does -- then it is only another reason, among many, that clocks should be used universally without exception.
