In Response To: Othello Quiz #2 (Stick)

How did this happen? Here's one possibility: White 3-2 or 4-1, 13/8; Blue 4-3 24/20, 24/21; White 6-5 24/13. White's moves could have happened in the reverse order, but if so both have misplayed their last moves, yes?

My OtB play is the odd-looking, antipositional 6/1*(2), 21/11 because I think it gives White the least immediate counterplay. This in turn maximizes my chance of getting my last back checker out of his board, then doubling based mainly on the race, backed up by a minor attacking threat.

I also see the case for running both checkers, 20/10, 21/11, or just the straight blitz making the 3 and ace, then doubling after a dance, at this score. I won't be super-surprised if one of these more "normal" plays is better than mine.
