King High justify a Bet?

O.K. I am practicing with my new PokerAcademy software. I am heading to a showdown with only a pair on the table and a King high. However, my sole opponents has checked on the flop, turn, and river. Was I overly optimistic that his checks were a sign that he could not beat a King high?
