In Response To: A Proposal to Start the US Backgammon Federation (Phil Simborg)

Is this government? It sounds like government. I don't like government.

Is there a way we could promote Backgammon without a ruling body? I don't like the idea of a beaurocracy deciding rules, splits, schedules etc. Let the market decide. Promoting the game is fine. Running something like a rating system is fine. I don't see any reason that current organizers would cede control over their events to a group such as this. I hope they don't.

I would like to suggest that the goals of this group be restricted to things which leave everyone's freedom intact. Then I would be happy to support it.
