Well said.

I know for a fact that Neil has spent countless hours studying this game. Many get so much pleasure out of playing that they use this as their sole learning experience. Those of us who get deeply involved in this game do it for the pleasure it brings, whether that is from playing, studying, writing,....

In the past I've asked what players feel is the most efficient learning path for backgammon. I haven't received very satisfying answers. I conclude that few (if any) know the answer. And the answer could easily be different depending upon the player.

If you find any secrets to efficient learning I hope you'll share those here. I avoided using the word "shortcuts" since that sounds like I'm looking for a lazy way out. Like most endeavors worth our interest, there are no shortcuts. And when walking through a beautiful forest, why would anyone wish to take a shortcut, anyway?
