Simborg's Chouette Rule

So here 'Stick' tosses 21 and according to the rule gnubg rolls and if he doesn't roll doubles then 'Stick' gets to roll again and then decide how to play the combination of two rolls to save the gammon. In this example after the 21-no doubles sequence 'Stick' rolls 61....now 'Stick' makes the double blunder play of playing 4/1 with the 21 and brilliantly saves the gammon. Excellent.
And am I also to understand the rule is any time you're down to 4 checkers!? Not 4 checkers on the ace, aka a pure 2 roll, but 4 checkers period!? That's the rumor I heard.
Move number 5: Stick to play 12
gnubg 4
